For rating anime, I follow My Anime List's default ADJECTIVE DESCRIPTION (Ex. 10 - Masterpiece, 9 - Great, 8 - Very Good, 7 - Good, 6 - Fine, 5 - Average, 4 - Bad, 3 - Very Bad, 2 - Horrible, 1 - Appalling). So if I give something a 7 that means I think its good! Not just "passing" like you might think with a 7/10 letter grade.
